TRIP DETAILS

Designed for nature lovers, this Costa Rican tour takes you. If seeing sloths if on the top of your Costa Rica wildlife list, then this sloth and rainforest walk with a river float is for you. This slow-moving beloved animal easily camouflages in the canopy, however, once you spot them you can usually get lots of views of this favorite animal as they move in slow motion from branch to branch. Led by one of our local sloth experts, guests will enjoy a 1.5 -hour walk through sloth territory. The setting is a local family-owned eco-project offering the perfect habitat to catch these captivating and cuddly creatures in (slow) action. Your guide will explain what makes them so slow, and speak about predators, and ongoing conservation efforts around the country to keep these treetop animals safe. Then you will enjoy the sights and sounds of Costa Rica’s wildlife on this 2-hour Wildlife Safari Float Tour. Our experienced guides take you down the Penas Blancas waterway where you are likely to see small crocodiles, big iguanas, Jesus Christ lizards (they actually walk on water!), and a wide array of migratory birds. The peace and tranquility of the rainforest allow you to really take in all the sights and sounds of this tropical setting. After this river trip ends, guests will enjoy a delicious riverside BBQ picnic at the river takeout at the home of Dona Mila and her husband Chupeta. Dona Mila and Chupeta have lived on the banks of the Penas Blancas for years and they have opened up their home to create a place where everyone can relax and enjoy great food together in a beautiful riverside setting. Prepared in authentic San Carleños style,  our riverside BBQ lunch is grilled to perfection on the patio with our signature blend of seasonings and spices. Each plate is served up with all the sides: corn, grilled vegetables, a garden salad, and a glass of locally crafted beer or wine. Treat yourself to pineapple or banana flambe and a cup of local coffee to end a great meal. Barbecue is a food that brings people from all walks of life to the table to break bread. It’s the perfect way to experience some local flavors after a great day exploring the area. Whether you’re fresh off the river or just looking for a great local meal, come as you are!
