Leona Ranger Station One-Day Hike

Approx. 7-8 hours

South Pacific

TRIP DETAILS

Start your adventure early in the morning from Puerto Jiménez, traveling towards Carate. Along the way, you’ll cross rivers, pass through lush cattle fields, and traverse the vibrant forests of Matapalo before reaching the trailhead.

This unforgettable hike follows the stunning La Leona-Sirena trail, where the Pacific Ocean meets the dense rainforest. After passing La Leona Ranger Station, you’ll explore a breathtaking landscape of secondary forest and coastal scenery, some of the most spectacular in Costa Rica.

Corcovado is one of the most biodiverse places on Earth, home to thousands of plant and tree species that support an incredible array of wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for monkeys, anteaters, toucans, scarlet macaws, coatis, poison dart frogs, and—if you’re lucky—a tapir or even a puma!

You can choose to include transportation or drive your own 4×4 vehicle to the starting point. Get ready for an unforgettable journey into the heart of Costa Rica’s wildest landscapes!
