Hiking Cerro Buena Vista

Approx. 5 – 8 hours.

Central Valley

TRIP DETAILS

Embark on a breathtaking journey along a trail that connects the summit of Buena Vista Mountain (3,492 meters above sea level) to the hotel (2,200 meters). This scenic route can be hiked uphill from the hotel or downhill from the summit, offering stunning panoramic views of the Central and Southern Pacific, as well as several volcanoes of the Cordillera Central on clear days.

As you traverse different altitudes, the landscape transforms dramatically. Starting from the summit, you’ll descend through the unique Páramo ecosystem, where vegetation remains low due to extreme conditions—an environment reminiscent of the high-altitude landscapes of the Talamanca Mountain Range and the Andes. If you hike uphill, you’ll begin in the lush cloud forest, surrounded by towering oak trees and vibrant evergreen vegetation, before reaching the high-altitude Páramo.

Whether you choose an ascent or descent, this approximately five-hour hike is a truly unforgettable experience, showcasing Costa Rica’s diverse ecosystems and breathtaking landscapes.

This tour is available for both hotel guests and non-guests.
